Camping: Located approximately 30 miles west of Austin, Krause Springs is a long time favorite camping/picnic venue for Austin area residents and students. It is a beautiful and unique location with a spring-fed swimming pool, overlooking a natural limestone swmming hole with a waterfall, surrounded by huge river cypress trees. After doing the basic tour at Cypress Valley on Saturday morning, participants can easily spend the entire afternoon exploring and enjoying Krause. For more information, check them out at http://www.krausesprings.net/.

Cypress Valley Canopy Tours: CVCT is located 10 minutes from Krause. The facility is family owned and operated and is patterned after Rainforest zip line tours one can find in places like Costa Rica. The basic tour 'zips' you from one canopy platform to the next. The fear factor is low and less of a 'gut check' experience than the zip lines at McKinney Roughs or Hamman Ranch, but the scenery and continually elevated launching areas make this a unique experience. Participants will be taught to hand-brake to prevent a "George of the Jungle" crash landing. The tour includes short history and nature lessons along the way. The entire experience at CVCT will last about 90 minutes. Afterward there is a picnic area and pending some drought-ending rains, a trapeze zip into the lake that will be open for those who want to swim.

The optional Challenge course is higher, faster, longer and definitely back in the 'gut check' category. It consists of a series of high rope elements some of which are unique to CVCT. By the owner's own admission, some elements are designed to be almost impossible to navigate. For each stage of the tour, however, there are alternate ways to get from point A to point B, some of which are no more than a challenging footbridge. If you and your child have mastered some of the harder elements in other Adventure Guides and Trailblazer venues, the Challenge Course will provide a further test and a different type of ropes experience.
