Climbing and Rappelling at Enchanted Rock

Once again we are off to the beautiful Texas hill country on one of our most popular and exciting of all Trailblazer adventures, rock climbing and rappelling at Enchanted Rock State Park. In order to give each person more time and attention from our instructors and also to allow everyone have more time on the rocks, we have split the adventure into three weekends. All weekends will have a combination of climbing and rappelling opportunities. Camping sites are available at Enchanted State Park for the first weekend. We have reserved tent camping at the beautiful Oxford Camp Ranch for the last two weekends. We will drive to E-Rock in the morning.
All Trailblazers should make their reservations in as soon as possible since we are limited in the number of climbers (18) each weekend. Reservations are strictly on a first come basis. This year we will again be using a professional outfitter called Outpost Wilderness Adventure to lead our weekends. They will furnish 2 to 3 trained guides and all the necessary safety gear. If past history is any indication, both the kids and dads will step up (and off!) and had a great time on the rock. OWA provides a very supportive environment, especially for that very first climb or repel.
Bring your own food for all meals, warm clothes and sleeping gear, since it still can get plenty cold in the hill country at night. You will, however, need sun screen protection against the sun during the day while we’re on the cliffs. Bring a backpack to pack food & water (lots of water, it can be hot on top of the rock all day) from campsite to the climb site. Bring cameras, still & video, and plenty of film for some great photos.
To register online go to www.registerymca.org. Click on the activities tab and then enter the course number below for the appropriate campout in the course section. Click the Add button. If you do not know your login information you will see a button to click to have the information sent to the email address we have on file for you on your membership (which we have learned is not always your Katori dbase address).
Remember that you must be a current member or program member of the YMCA and already registered for the adventure program.
